Meet Emma Mezher, Certified Massage Therapist

1.    What would you say are your super powers as a therapist?

“Using a range of all the modalities I have studied over the years, I love to address not only muscle tissue, but bone, organs, fascia, fluid dynamics and subtle energetics. I love to remind the body that it has an innate capacity not only for adaptability, but for a deep experience of spaciousness. When we address the body in this way, the mind can follow and we can experience a sense of lightness, clarity and joy. By letting go in this way, we essentially become more available to ourselves, to others, and to each moment, breath by breath.”

2.    What areas of the body, types of modalities, or aliments do you tend to bring focus to?

“I enjoy applying Chinese Medicinal theories to the bodywork that I do. These are principles of yin and yang, and anatomical mirroring. Essentially what this means, is that you can use the front of the torso to address issues in the back, and that you can address the shoulders by working on the hips, for example. I love to work this way because it is non-linear and honors the holographic nature of our bodies. I am drawn to sacrums, ribcages and heads, because for me they relate to the trinity of groundedness, open-heartedness and clarity of mind. I also love to work on the abdomen, because if you can balance function, structure will often take care of itself.”

3. A love letter to my perfect client…

Bodywork is a dialogue. When we embark on a session, I am there in the role of facilitator.  I encourage you to participate in your process. like using your breath to help facilitate release, or encouraging open communication if you have a concern. Give yourself this time. Really. Allow your mind to soften and disengage from your daily travels. Dive in to the sensations of touch, sound and smell. Notice what's there. Notice what arises. Notice what shifts. In these small ways, with mindfulness and gentleness, we can come home to our bodies again. And again. And again.”
