I come to this day a beginner. I open my eyes and the world rushes in. I am awake.

I stretch my arms above my head and I put my feet on the floor. I can reach the sky and keep my feet on the ground and feel them both at the same time.

I walk to the mirror and rub my face. I see myself and I say, “Yes, yes you are. Yes you can.” I wash myself; I feel the water on my face. I cleanse away the old and welcome the miracle. I am new. I anoint my body and say thank you for carrying me through this day, for holding me together in this world.

I walk to the kitchen and allow myself to feel hunger. I take my food in hand; I see it and smell it. I hold it outside of me and then bring it into me, to nourish and sustain me. This food is whole and fresh and full of life. It brings me to myself, and fuels the work I do in this world.

I am ready and I am willing. Let this day become.
