Leap of Faith<a>Leap of Faith How to Consciously Transform

Tuesday, 1st January 2013

New Year’s Day never arrives empty-handed. It’s charged with the years of dreams on its heels. Just about everyone I know has been tested in some way or another.

Sometimes it was inspired by the death of a loved one or the end of a relationship, while others altered through the birth of their first child or the start of a career. Whether or not the turn of an event was wanted, to move forward required change. The theme of transformation seems to be very present. How can we transform consciously? How do we work with what holds us back? Who do we need to become to make the leap? If we believe it’s possible, what does it look like?

I understand change to be how the universe loves us. She destroys our sand castle ~ whatever thing that we’ve depended on, invested in ~ and creates a whole lot of space. We are forced to evolve. Often this is painful, difficult, and involves lots of resistance. Losing our ground is a good sign that we are being seen, even being held by a greater spirit. I believe devastation can be one of the most powerful kinds of healers we can experience. But it doesn’t always have to be lousy. Whatever it is, I think it’s important that heartbreak occurs. Only then can we learn big love. So if your heart is breaking, congratulations. You are a chosen one.

I won’t say I hope only good things come to you this year. I think that a) there’s a lot to learn from things that aren’t so good and b) we can trust in the unknown. Instead, I wish that you see the good in all that comes to you this year. Goodness can be found in every engagement and all experience. Even if the change is painful, there is goodness in letting go, in being shaken, in becoming aware of every breath, step, thought, wish, and fear. May you have a rich and full new year. Cheers. Here’s to the life you were meant to live.
