Try it till you buy it. If finding joy in the most ordinary of things is difficult, then train yourself to create it. Here’s a few ways to get unbearably light.

  1. Before you get out of bed, think of something that makes you smile.
  2. Make up a joke and practice it all day long.
  3. Laugh out loud
  4. Wear stripes, patterns, or ridiculously bright colors just because.
  5. Bake cookies and bring them into work
  6. Take improv classes
  7. Invent a weekly joy practice
